Peanut chutney is very tasty and easy to make. It goes well with any food. Mostly it is used with idli, dosa etc. But I sometimes even use it with my normal food. It adds an extra flavor.
Peanut Chutney
Ingredients
- 1 cup peanuts
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- A generous pinch of asafoetida (hing)
- few curry leaves
- 2 green chili
- 2-3 cloves garlic
- 2 small slits of ginger
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 2 whole red chili
- 1 piece of tamarind
- Salt to taste
Directions
- Heat a pan and add 1 tsp oil in it.
- After oil is heated add asafoetida (hing), cumin seeds, garlic, ginger, curry leaves and green chili.
- Saute for 1-2 mins.
- Now add peanuts. Cook peanuts until they start cracking.
- Turn of flame and let the mix cool.
- After the mix is cold add everything in a grinder jar.
- Add salt and tamarind.
- Add 1/4 cup water.
- Grind to make a smooth paste.
- Take out chutney in a bowl or glass jar.
- Lets make tadka now. Take the same pan an heat 1/2 tsp oil.
- Add mustard seeds, curry leaves and whole red chili.
- Let the seeds crackle. Turn of flame and pour tadka over chutney.
Enjoy the chutney.
Notes:
You can also store it in glass jar for 3-4 days and refrigerate. Do not add tadka to everything if you want to store chutney.
